A tragic road accident took place on Thursday morning in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, claiming the lives of at least five people and injuring around 20 others after a Himachal Pradesh Roadways passenger bus fell into a deep gorge near the Maseran area of the Sarkaghat sub-division.
The bus was reportedly en route from Sarkaghat to Durgapur when the accident occurred.
According to news agency ANI, several of the injured are in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment at Sarkaghat Hospital.

Mandi SP Sakshi Verma confirmed that the police and local administration responded swiftly and are actively involved in rescue and relief operations at the site of the incident.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but preliminary reports suggest that challenging road conditions and steep terrain may have contributed to the mishap.
This heartbreaking incident has once again raised serious concerns about road safety in Himachal Pradesh’s hilly regions, where sharp curves, narrow roads, and poor visibility often lead to tragic outcomes.
